Ciao! 👋 My name is Valeria, and I’m a postdoc specializing in Church History. I’m working on a two-year International Fellowship funded by the Carlsberg Foundation, which began in January 2025.
I’m currently examining how Adolf von Harnack’s ideas on Christianity were received by the early twentieth-century Italian scholar Ernesto Buonaiuti, who sought to reconcile Catholicism with modern culture. Within this project, I focus in particular on Buonaiuti’s interpretation of asceticism, which he described as a “readjustment in human life.” I’m grateful to benefit from the expertise of my colleagues at the Collegium Patristicum Lundense, particularly in the area of Monasticism and its impact on the formation of Christian culture.
Hej! Jag heter Katarina och är forskare i kyrkohistoria vid CTR i Lund och även sekreterare i Collegium Patristicum Lundense. Min forskning är inriktad på tidig kristendom och de områden jag främst ägnar mig åt är tidigkristen asketism, bibeltolkning, auktoritet, heresiologi och eskatologi. Framför allt är jag specialiserad på teologen och bibeltolkaren Hieronymus av Stridon (347–419). 2019 försvarade jag min doktorsavhandling Negotiating Heresy: The Reception of Origen in Jerome’s Eschatological Thought. För närvarande arbetar jag inom projektet “Auktoritet, samhälle och individuell frihet – det latinska klosterväsendet och rötterna till Europas utbildningsideal” samt inom forskningsprogrammet ”At the End of the World: A Transdisciplinary Approach to the Apocalyptic Imaginary in the Past and Present”.
